Think fast: what letter comes before “W” in the alphabet?

A lot of people figure this out by quickly running through the ABC’s:

Ah, there it is: “V.”

We’re so used to “taking it from the top” that we become dependent on starting at the beginning in order to get to the middle and end of whatever it is we’re working on.

For everyone who took piano lessons as a kid, you might remember the experience of messing up in the middle of a piece of music and having to start over in order to recover.

But that’s hardly a recovery.

So now that you’re older and more practice-savvy, try working backwards through a piece of music. You’ll be less reliant on muscle memory and have a much easier time recovering when you mess up.

Give it a go on shorter ditties like the chords progressions in Stanky Loops. They’re challenging, but you’ll have a blast getting those juicy chords under your fingers.

Who knows? You might even get inspired to write some new music, which was my #1 reason for creating Stanky Loops in the first place!
